Raised in El Paso, Texas, Wayne Watters attended the University of Texas at El Paso, where he studied psychology with a minor focus in chemistry. After graduating, he moved to Austin with plans to pursue a career in mental health. While still in college, however, he discovered an unexpected passion for banking and finance, a path that would shape the next two decades of his life. Wayne built his career in the credit union industry, guided by strong mentors and a steady curiosity about how organizations function and serve their communities. Over time, he worked across multiple departments, gaining a broad operational perspective before ultimately stepping into the role of CEO. After 21 years in credit unions, he relocated to Colorado, where he now works as a consultant and auditor, frequently serving in interim CEO and CFO roles for credit unions needing additional leadership and stability. Outside of his professional work, Wayne enjoys writing, hiking, mountain biking, sailing, and travel. Living in Colorado provides daily access to the outdoors, which helps keep him grounded in what matters most—family, friendships, and perspective.
