Erzsébet Báthory was history's most prolific female serial killer. Born into Hungarian nobility in 1560 she became infamous for torturing and murdering hundreds of young girls between 1590 and 1610. Erzsébet was obsessed with maintaining her youth and beauty and believed that bathing in the fresh blood of virgins would preserve her youthfulness.
